Attention: Ohio Vehicle Dismantlers and Scrap Metal Recyclers

In September of 2006,
The End of Life Vehicle Solutions Corporation (ELVS) and Ohio EPA added Ohio as a participant in the National Vehicle Mercury Switch Recovery Program (NVMSRP).

As a first step in implementing the NVMSRP, ELVS will provide vehicle recyclers with collection buckets and will pay the costs of transportation, retorting/recycling or disposal of elemental mercury from the automotive switches. ELVS also will provide educational materials to promote vehicle recycling and proper management of mercury switches.

One of the NVMSRP goals is to maximize switch collection nationally. A $4 million fund has been established to reward dismantlers/recyclers on a first-come, first-serve basis for their efforts by providing an incentive for each mercury switch received. (For more details, please click on the NVMSRP tab above).

PLEASE NOTE: As of September 1, 2008 –The Ohio Incentive program ended and for buckets received after that date -- Ohio recyclers will receive the NVMSRP incentive of $4 per switch and $6 per ABS assembly.
